However, it would seem that Rocksteady’s next project might be a game based on the Suicide Squad from DC according to newly revealed website domains that have fans begging for more info which seems like will come in August during the DC Fandom online event. There are some things fans are hoping for and not wanting for this game.

10 Want: Unique Quests For Each Character

With Suicide Squad, players are likely going to be able to play as the likes of Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and more in the lengthy story campaign but with the ability to swap characters; similar to how Arkham City gave players control of Catwoman.

However, it would be disappointing if it all leads down the same story no matter the character. So, taking a page from Grant Theft Auto V, players would love to play as Deadshot one minute then swap over to Harley who has her own unique sidequests and story missions that Deadshot cannot access. We would want the same for the inevitable DLC characters so they don’t feel out of place.

9 Don’t Want: A Spin-Off Of Arkham

The Arkham games are beloved but many agree that the ending of Arkham Knight made it difficult to continue anything in that universe what with so many iconic characters dead, retired, or resolved by the finale. Continuing that world would diminish what the previous game tried so hard to do by ending the series.

It was rumored that future DC games such as WB Games Montreal’s new Batman game would be part of a rebooted universe; perhaps it would be best to set this new Suicide Squad game in that world. This can allow for the Squad to interact with characters like Poison Ivy without any issues.

8 Want: Full Character Customization

While the Arkham series always delivered on their alternate skins, players have also experienced the gear system and customization of DC characters in NetherRealm’s Injustice 2 which was highly praised for giving fans the ability to create their own versions of these characters.

Taking a Destiny-esque approach, players could earn pieces of gear that are cosmetic and can upgrade whichever Squad members they are playing as. This way, someone’s Harley or Rick Flagg could end up looking entirely different from their friend’s Harley and Flagg. With an online function, this could lead to fun team-ups with friends to unlock more gear and upgrades.

7 Don’t Want: Microtransactions For Gear/DLC

If the gear system is introduced, players do not want the issue that can come with a lot of games these days: paying to win. Players should be able to earn these gear pieces by completing in-game objectives, challenges, quests, or even in-game currency instead of just simply spending real money to advance in the game.

Paying for DLC characters and story is annoying but gamers can accept that since it is new content that can expand the game; that being said, this game would be competing with the new Marvel’s Avengers game in which Marvel Games have stated multiple times that all future content post-launch would be free. It would not be wise to do the exact opposite of the competition.

6 Want: Characters Added To The Game In The Future

One of the things that makes Task Force X unique is that it never has the exact same members in every story; the cast constantly revolves with new villains joining the team which can lead to some fun powersets from the many mythoi of DC.

There is a plethora of characters to choose from: Deathstroke, Scarecrow, Captain Cold, Cheetah, King Shark, Sinestro, Black Manta, Count Vertigo, Bronze Tiger, and so much more. With their unique skillsets and designs, the Suicide Squad has the potential to be a game that lasts for years when it comes to content and expansion.

5 Don’t Want: A Single Riddler Puzzle Or Trophy In Sight

In Arkham Asylum, the Riddler’s challenge was a fun side quest that helped make Arkham Island feel more fun to explore; Arkham City, the Riddler was kind of annoying but the puzzles were enjoyable enough to keep you going. In Origins, this guy was really starting to get on the player’s nerves but then Arkham Knight was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Riddler became an annoyance that wasn’t fun to deal with anymore. If Rocksteady really wants a collect-athon side quest then fans would gladly point out that there are other characters to use for such a thing: Mirror Master, Amanda Waller, Circe, Thinker, Brainiac, anybody who needs somebody collected for them. Just keep Edward Nigma far away from this game.

4 Want: Proper Boss Fights Throughout

Despite how fun and engaging the Arkham series is, the common complaint fans and gamers have with them is the boss fights: there was the occasional standout like Clayface, Killer Croc, and most of the bosses from Origins but the rest? Pretty lackluster, easy, and in some cases: downright boring.

With the Squad having to take on other villains and heroes alike from across the DC universe, this is where boss fights will really need to be improved. There is a lot of potentials if the players’ end up facing off against someone like The Flash or Gorilla Grodd.

3 Don’t Want: Just One Map To Explore

Gotham City is iconic and beautiful, nobody can deny that but there are other places with just as rich of lore as Gotham: Metropolis, Central City, Coast City, Gorilla City, Fawcett City, Bludhaven, and more all provide many characters and potential missions for the Squad.

Once again, referring to Destiny 2, there are multiple planets to explore in that game with unique missions, environments, and there are even different online modes to choose from that way; no reason why that can’t be done with Suicide Squad.

2 Want: A Rich And Lengthy Main Story

Games like The Witcher III have proven that good sidequests can keep gamers engaged for so long that they forget that the story exists but Rocksteady has made a name for themselves with their main stories that have garnered so much praise that they practically surpass most big-budget Batman movies.

With Suicide Squad, there are tons of storylines from the comics to pick from, merge together, or take inspiration from but with the aforementioned revolving cast of characters from around the DC Universe, Rocksteady has a gold mine for stories of their own to create.

1 Don’t Want: A Copy And Paste Combat System

The combat system of the Arkham games worked for Batman; it was designed around his skills and gadgets whereas many Suicide Squad members do not have the same kind of fighting styles. Killer Croc is a brute brawler, Deadshot’s martial arts is limited so he focuses mainly on his firearms, Captain Boomerang’s combat is entirely base on his boomerangs, etc.

With this game, perhaps it would be best to experiment with more gameplay styles: the first-person option for both shooting and melee a la Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim or Dishonored would get fans interested.
