Vince McMahon is dubbed by many as a wrestling genius and has advised a long string of WWE Superstars over the years. There have been moments when Vince McMahon felt that a WWE Superstar shouldn’t do a particular thing, as it could harm their character or their standing in front of the fans. In this list, we will take a look at five things Vince McMahon told WWE Superstars not to do.

#5 Vince McMahon told Daniel Bryan not to mention the environment in his promos

Back in late 2018, Daniel Bryan turned heel and defeated AJ Styles to win the WWE title on SmackDown. He soon became one of the biggest heels in WWE and started focusing on the environment. Bryan’s gimmick was that of a crazy guy who was mad at the WWE Universe for not being serious about the deteriorating environment. Bryan even went on to have a hemp WWE title belt made for himself. Around that time, Bryan was preaching about saving the environment in his promos, and Vince McMahon wasn’t thrilled.

Bryan stopped mentioning the environment following WWE’s orders. He met Kofi Kingston in a WWE title match at WrestleMania, where he lost the belt to The New Day member.

#4 Vince McMahon told Seth Rollins to stop using the Curb Stomp

Back when Seth Rollins turned on The Shield, he became a vicious heel. He won a string of matches using his devastating finisher, Curb Stomp. Fans might remember that Rollins used the finisher on Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 31 to win the WWE World Heavyweight title. Soon after, fans noticed that Rollins wasn’t using the finisher anymore, and it was replaced with the Pedigree, a move popularized by Triple H. Rollins later explained how Vince McMahon told him to stop using the move, as he felt that it wasn’t a good representation of what he wanted his top Superstar to do.

Seth Rollins didn’t use the move for a long time following Vince McMahon’s orders but later managed to convince the WWE Chairman to start using it again. He used the move effectively at WrestleMania 35, to defeat Brock Lesnar for the Universal title.

#3 Big E was advised by Vince McMahon to stop throwing pancakes at the commentary table

Big E is one of the most hilarious acts on WWE TV and has been the same for a long time. The New Day’s antics have always been a hit among the young fans in the WWE Universe, and throwing pancakes around is one of those acts that always gets a good reaction from the audience.

While having a chat with Corey Graves on After The Bell, Big E recalled how Vince McMahon told him to stop throwing pancakes at the announcers.

Unfortunately, The New Day was recently disbanded after six years of togetherness, during the 2020 WWE Draft. Big E is now a singles act on SmackDown, while Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods are RAW-exclusive Superstars. Fans of The New Day will have to wait for a long time before they get to see the trio dance around and throw pancakes again.

#2 Vince McMahon once told Mr. Kennedy to stop being funny

Mr. Kennedy recently had a chat with Chris Featherstone of Sportskeeda and he recalled how Vince McMahon told him to stop trying to be funny. When Mr. Kennedy debuted in WWE, he adopted a comedic style of promo delivery. Vince McMahon didn’t like this and advised him to stop doing the same.

Kennedy’s stint as a WWE Superstar, unfortunately, didn’t last long. In mid-2009, Kennedy hit a move on Randy Orton during a match on RAW, which ended up hurting The Viper. Mere days later, Kennedy was let go by WWE, never to come back again.

#1 Vince McMahon told Kurt Angle to stop “taking it seriously”

WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle occasionally has Q&A sessions with his fans on his official Facebook page. The Olympic gold medalist and former WWE Champion once talked about Vince McMahon’s advice to him, while answering a fan question. Angle stated that the WWE Chairman told him not to take it seriously, and simply enjoy performing in the ring.

Angle is one of the greatest Superstars to ever step foot in a WWE ring. He is a former WWE Champion and possibly the best pure athlete to ever wrestle for Vince McMahon’s promotion. His first year in the company is regarded by many as the best rookie year in WWE history. Angle was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2017 for his contributions to the business. He wrestled his final WWE match at WrestleMania 35, where he lost to King Corbin.
