- Antonio Valencia- He played a great game on Sunday against QPR. His cross to Rooney leading to the goal was beautiful, which reminded me so much of 09/10 when Rooney scored so many headers with the help of Valencia’s crosses. His good performances keeps new boy Ashley Young on the bench, who started the season in hot form and cooled off drastically, and his toe injury didn’t help him either. The more he plays like this, the more likely Ashley will be on bench and at a club like Manchester United, there is competition at every position. A great example is last season’s Golden Boot winner Dimitar Berbatov, who’s on the bench behind Danny Welbeck and Mexican poacher Chicharito.
4.The Defense- The back four could face it’s toughest opposition during the festive period with Bryan Ruiz, who scored great chip shot against Bolton on Saturday and Clint Dempsey who now holds the record for most goals by an American in the Premier League. How will Smalling and Evra handed these two wide threats? By simply cutting off their supply line as Ruiz likes to play through the middle, and with Bobby Zamora battling to get full fitness, Dembele will come into the side. Jonny Evans played a great game last Sunday against QPR, and I believe his good form will continue against Fulham and Rio has begun to tailor his game as Sir Alex told him to do. Against QPR, Jonny was always in front of Rio and Rio was always a few steps behind Jonny, which will help him because he has lost a bit of his pace.
- Wayne Rooney- His form at the moment has been great. He in his goal scoring form, scoring three in his last two games. His partnership with Danny Welbeck this season has been awesome to say the least. The Wayne Rooney- Welbeck Partnership in the Premier League in 7 games has helped Rooney score 8 goals and Welbeck with two, but there have been several incorrect offside calls that could have produced at least two more goals. When you compare it to the Chicha- Rooney partnership, Wayne only scored three goals and that was the hat trick against Bolton.
How is Fulham going to defend him? On Sunday, QPR didn’t know what to do, when Wayne got into those little pockets and they didn’t know either to go up and defend him or sit back. For example, when he played that great ball for Jones from which he should of scored that put him one on one with the keeper. Wayne scores in bunches and this is a perfect time for Wayne to get in hot form, especially with the F.A Cup tie with City looming. It will be great to have an in-form Rooney to take to the Etihad Stadium and gain revenge against the City.
